Minister of Trade and Industry Ms. Nivine Gameaa stressed that Hayah Karima Initiative represents a distinct opportunity for the national industry to provide all the industrial requirements and needs needed to implement the initiative, noting that the initiative launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to improve the standard of living of rural villages and achieve sustainable development throughout the republic represents a major breakthrough for the local industry where it will contribute to the operation of factories at full production capacity, as well as an opportunity to enter new investments in the local market as well as create new jobs for young people.
The minister said that this initiative is witnessing a great momentum, especially as it includes 4,209 villages with a total of 175 centers across 20 provinces, with 50 million beneficiaries and the cost of the initiative 500 billion pounds, of which 50-60% are industrial products in 4 axes. The main development are water and sanitation networks, road and bridges, the health system in the villages, and the development of educational institutions in Egyptian villages and centers, pointing out that President Sisi addressed the need to deepen and localize local industry and provide an opportunity for Egyptian industry in the implementation of this national project so that all components and products of the project are from the national industry, reflecting on stimulating economic development and improving employment rates.
For his part, Engineer Mohammed Abdul Karim, Executive Director of Industrial Modernisation Centre, explained that in accordance with the directives of Ms. Nevine Gameaa, Minister of Trade and Industry to the Industrial Modernisation Centre, to confine factories to different sectors in preparation for participating in the initiative and studying what can be provided from various technical support services and the provision of technical labor, the centre held during the past days an introductory seminar for the centre's team in order to review the features of the initiative and determine the directions of the Ministry of Trade and Industry in its various bodies, to contribute to this great national project, pointing out that meetings are being held with manufacturers in different industrial sectors to encourage them to benefit from the initiative.
Abdul Karim added that in the framework of permanent coordination with the Union of Egyptian Industries, the Industrial Modernisation Centre participated in an extensive meeting with representatives of the Chamber of Metal Industries in the presence of Dr. Khalid Abdel Azim, Executive Director of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, and Engineer Mohammed Hanafi, Executive Director of the Chamber of Metal Industries in the presence of 16 representatives of metallurgical sector companies, where during the meeting it was agreed to draft the questionnaire that will be The Egyptian factories provided it to account for the production capacities of existing Egyptian factories and the number of workers in factories and the willingness of some factories to increase their production capacity to participate in the initiative, and the need of some other factories for a kind of support to increase their capacity, which may be represented by financing or technical support, pointing out that according to this questionnaire will be issued a unified list by fully accounting for the production capacities of different industries.
He pointed out that the industrial chambers concerned participating in this initiative include the Chamber of Metallurgical Industries, the Chamber of Engineering Industries, the Building Materials Room and the Chamber of Chemical Industries, pointing out that the centre is in constant contact with working groups formed from all ministries concerned with the implementation of this initiative.
The Executive Director of the Industrial Modernisation Centre noted that this initiative will help increase the contribution of the industrial sector to GDP as well as benefit factories from high productivity in terms of technical aspects, which include improving cost and product quality, improving the industrial system, achieving corporate growth and employment, pointing out that the most important characteristic of the developments of this initiative is the idea of profiling or lack of diversity of supplies and limited to specific patterns, which will have a significant impact on improving costs for factories.
