Sector Background:

Egypt’s agriculture and food processing sectors are vital components of the country’s economic fabric. Both sectors employed over 30% of the national work force and generated approximately 20% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP)

2008 Data:

  • The Value of exports over twelve months for 2008 is 9.7 billion EGP with a growth rate of 14% outpacing most other agricultural exporting countries

  • 450 companies are registered with IMC, receiving a total of 3,322 service, and with total employment of 18,000, employees

  • Total investment of these companies is 6.2 billion EGP
