SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

IMC offers R&D funding to industry in cooperation with the Ministry of State for Scientific Research (MHESR) to help develop scientific researches and establish the link between research and the Egyptian industrial community. So far 50 R&D projects has been approved for funding serving different industrial sectors.

In reaction to the world financial crisis IMC has supported its client with a 50% discount of the client cost share in the service.

The programme has different schemes according to the project nature as follows:

Procedures: Scheme 1 & 2

  • R&D idea to improve national industry requests via filled form No I "R&D service form" and send to the IMC email: researchrequest@imc-egypt,orgor by hand to IMC R&D unit
  • IMC R&D unit prepares a suggested set of Call for Proposals
  • R&D Management Committee approves the final draft for the Call for Proposals materials and details
  • Launch Call for Proposals for a maximum of 30 days on the IMC website
  • Evaluate Proposals through Evaluation Committee to be assigned by IMC
  • In case any evaluator member refuses the proposal, the R&D management committee will make the final decision whether to accept or not or re-evaluate. A letter should be sent to the beneficiary with the final results
  • If the proposal passed consensually from all evaluators, the project will be ready for contracting
  • Re-evaluation by MHESR and IMC R&D unit at milestones to continue or discontinue funding
  • In case of continued funding, the project will be funded by consecutive installments
  • Publicize the project results by IMC

  • In case any evaluator member refuses the proposal, the R&D management committee will make the final decision whether to accept or not or re-evaluate. A letter should be sent to the beneficiary with the final results.
  • If the proposal passed consensually from all evaluators, the project will be ready for
    contracting
  • Re-evaluation by MHESR and IMC R&D unit at milestones to continue or discontinue funding
  • In case of continued funding, the project will be funded by consecutive installments
  • Impact evaluation for the research project by IMC
   

Procedures: Scheme 3B

  • R&D proposal through industrial company via filled form No 2 "R&D Project Proposal form" and send to the IMC email: researchrequest@imc-egypt.org or by hand toIMC R&D unit
  • Evaluate Proposals through Evaluation Committee (each evaluation committee will be comprised of one independent researcher member, one concerned IMC sector head member and IMC R&D unit manager)
  • If the proposal passed consensually from all evaluators, LoC should be issued and signed by IMC and Industrial beneficiary paying 20% of the total project value
  • Re-evaluation by MHESR and IMC R&D unit at milestones / lab scale or prototype to continue or discontinue funding
  • In case of continued funding, the project will be funded by 40% of the project value as a second installment
  • Final evaluation by MHESR and IMC R&D unit before the end stage of the project to continue or discontinue funding
  • In case of continued funding, the project will be funded by 40% of the project value as a final installment
  • Impact evaluation of the research project by IMC

         Procedures: Scheme 4

  • R&D proposal through industrial company via filled form No 2 "R&D Project Proposal form" and send to the IMC email: researchrequest@imc-egypt,org or by hand to IMC R&D unit
  • Evaluate Proposals through Evaluation Committee (each evaluation committee will be comprised of one independent researcher member, one concerned IMC sector head
    member and IMC R&D unit manager)
  • If the proposal passed consensually from all evaluators, LoC should be issued and signed by IMC and Industrial beneficiary paying 50% of the total project value.
  • A mid-term re-evaluation will be conducted by MHESR and IMC R&D to continue or discontinue funding
  • In case of continued funding, the project will be funded by 30% of the project value as a second installment
  • Final evaluation by MHESR and IMC R&D unit before the end stage of the project to continue or discontinue funding
  • In case of continued funding, the project will be funded by 20% of the project value as a I final installment
  • Impact evaluation of the research project by IMC
