Industrial Vertical Integaration Initiative
 
Objectives:
  • Developing national Awareness regarding the vitality of local industries for the economy
  • Enhance individual capabilities of Engineering and industrial companies in the field of design, manufacturing machines and production lines.
  • Achieve the highest percentage of local content in all governmental procurement and national projects
  • Integrate all national industrial institutions to rationalize investments and increase local content percentage
  • Attract foreign direct investment forthe purpose of vertical integration and increasing value-added in the Egyptian industries
  • Protect intellectual property rights for national industries
  • Formulate database for competitive SMEs/Suppliers in-order to link them to Tier one manufacturers.
Rationale:

  • Identify and analyze industrial value chains from a sectoral perspective

  • Determine the quantity and volume of imported production components to initiate import substitution process

  • Propose and lobby on policies and implementation strategies with all involved stakeholders to achieve the objectives.

  • Conduct feasibility studies and prepare business case for each identified product

  • Promote identified investment opportunities locally and internationally

  • Facilitate and provide the required technical support for the success of those investments

  • Integrate the initiative with the National Suppliers Development Programme to capitalise on the success achieved with the pilot project, which increased the local content percentage in the automotive and white goods Industry

Chemical Sector  

Engineering Sector:

Identify the volume, capacity and specifications for all kind of items that are required by the furniture, automotive, leather, textiles and pharmaceutical sectors:
• Paints and adhesives
• Foam
• Food ingredients, dyes and colors
• Glass, PVC and PVDC

 

Identify the volume, capacity and specifications for all kind of the following items to further
integrate and increase the value added within the engineering sector:
• Molds, jigs and fixtures
• Valves and flow meters
• Hydraulic and selecta tic bars
• Stainless steel and plastic accessories

     

Textiles Sector:

 

Packaging Sector:

Special project to increase the value added and local percentage in the textiles value chain, mainly to integrate and supply the industry with:
• Blended and genuine cotton yam
• Knitted and weaved fabrics
• Sewing stitches, dyes and accessories

 

Special pilot project to supply the food and furniture sectors, with competitive and approved products of the following:
• Special carton for mechanical and manual packaging of fresh produce
• All dairy and juice special packaging
• Spec ial approved packaging for furniture exports
