- The Chemical Industries is considered one of the largest industrial sectors; it includes 7 main subsectors,
which are Plastics, Rubber, Paper, Detergents, Paints, Miscellaneous, Chemicals , Fertilizers
and Glass.
- Medium and Small Enterprises represent around 85% of the total number of sector companies
registered at IMC.
- Exports of Chemical Industries sector reached LE 18,6 billion in 2009 and LE 14,4 billion in 2010

Chemical sector main objectives are:
- Doubling exports to reach 42 billion pound by 2013

- The number of registered companies in IMC reached 1167 with a labor force estimated at 83000
workers.
- Exports value till end of August 2010 reached around LE 14.4 billion with an increase of 28% over
the same period of 2009
- Investments of registered companies in the sector reached about LE 35 billions.
